Final Cap for Edwards? - Ipswich Town News
Town right-back Carlos Edwards won his 82nd and perhaps final Trinidad and Tobago cap as his national side beat Guyana 2-0 in a 2014 World Cup qualifier in Port of Spain overnight. The victory was in vain with the Soca Warriors having been eliminated from the qualification process after losing 2-1 to the Guyanese in Georgetown on Friday.
According to speculation in the Caribbean, 33-year-old Edwards is likely to be one of a number of players announcing their international retirement in the wake of their early World Cup exit.
Blues striker Jason Scotland recently announced that he would no longer play for his country, while former Town loanee Stern John could also end his international career.
Edwards, who played in all three of Trinidad and Tobago’s games at the World Cup in Germany in 2006, scored four international goals.
