Trialist Crisp in U18 Squad - Ipswich Town News

Trialist Ryan Crisp has been named in the U18s squad for Saturday’s game at Fulham's Motspur Park training ground (KO 11am). The 18-year-old Kirkley and Pakefield striker, who scored four goals for the Ridgeons League Premier Division side in a 5-2 victory over Hadleigh United last Saturday, is spending six weeks being assessed by the Blues' youth set-up.

Academy manager Sammy Morgan told TWTD that Crisp is with his squad and not the first teamers, Paul Jewell having been unaware of the player when asked about him yesterday: "We’ve brought him down here on a six-week trial," the Northern Irishman said.

"We’ll have a look at him prior to the Christmas period and see how he does. We’ll try and introduce him into a game at some stage so we can gauge what he might be capable of.”

Morgan says A-level student Crisp, who will be at the club for two days a week, first caught his eye when he was watching Town’s Norwegian central defender Nicolay Schrøder playing for the Royals on loan earlier in the season.

Meanwhile, 15-year-old schoolboy Byron Lawrence won't be making his first team debut this weekend having been included in the U18 squad.

Fulham's website asks those planning to attend their U18 games to email them.

U18s: O’Donnell, October, Jones, Scotcher, Marriott, Simmons, Meikle, Thorsteinsson, Timlin, Lawrence, Winter, Bennett, Crisp, Acott, Tiofack, Hammond.
