First Teamers and Trialist in Action Against West Ham - Ipswich Town News

First-team squad regulars Daryl Murphy, Nathan Ellington, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Reece Wabara are all set to feature in this afternoon’s behind-closed-doors reserves friendly against West Ham at Playford Road. While there’s been no official confirmation from Town, we understand that Icelandic trialist Teddy Bjarnason will also be involved.

Mark Kennedy, Tommy Smith, Luke Hyam, Jack Ainsley, Shane O'Connor, Cormac Burke and Joe Whight are also set to play, while schoolboy Byron Lawrence, 15, who manager Paul Jewell recently tipped for a first team debut this season, is on the bench.

Murphy is now over the hamstring he pulled in the reserves game against Arsenal, but winger Lee Martin is out of today’s match with a minor niggle having initially been down to play.

Fans were initially invited along to the game but there was a change of heart, presumably because of the potential involvement of trialists on either or both sides with there being significantly less red tape if they play in matches with no spectators present.
