Jewell Linked With Hulse Reunion - Ipswich Town News

Town manager Paul Jewell could be one of a number of Championship bosses tempted by the loan availability of QPR striker Rob Hulse, according to reports in London. The Premier League club are said to have circulated the 32-year-old’s name along with those of several other fringe players ahead of Thursday’s 5pm deadline.

Hulse is understood to have turned down a switch to Doncaster as he wants to remain in the south, while Blackpool were also claimed to be amongst those interested last week.

Jewell signed Hulse for £1.75 million from Sheffield United when Derby boss in July 2008 and the 6ft 1½in tall frontman was understood to have been in the Town manager’s thoughts when he was looking to add to his attacking options in the summer.

The likely exit of Tamás Priskin, coincidentally to Derby, could see Jewell seek to augment his striking ranks before Thursday's deadline, although the link with Hulse could just be down to the pair's previous association at Pride Park.

Hulse, who started his career with hometown club Crewe and has also played for Hyde United (loan), West Brom and Leeds, joined QPR ahead of 2010/11 for a £1 million fee but managed only 13 starts and nine sub appearances in their promotion season, scoring two goals.

In the summer, Hulse, whose Loftus Road contract runs to June 2013, decided against a move to Millwall as he was hoping for some involvement in QPR’s first season back in the Premier League, however, he is still to feature for Neil Warnock’s side.

Also on the circulated list are centre-half Danny Shittu, Brazilian defender or midfielder Bruno Perone and Norwegian winger Petter Vaagan Moen.
