Jewell: We Want to Keep Keith - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Paul Jewell says he spoke to on-loan midfielder Keith Andrews at training this morning and reiterated that he’d like to keep the Republic of Ireland international at Portman Road beyond the end of his loan in January. Yesterday, the 31-year-old said he felt the club weren’t doing enough to try to keep him for the second half of the season.

Jewell said: "The agent met the owner and Simon Clegg on Monday and they spoke and I spoke with Keith this morning.

"We’d like to keep Keith and I think he’s keen to listen to what we’ve got to say but there are a lot of factors before a transfer like this can happen, but the key thing is that we want to keep him.

"Whether we can keep him is down to a few factors — money and Blackburn amongst them. I know there are a lot of teams interested in him because he’s done so well for us and we’d like to keep him, but whether we can is down to lots of things.”

Jewell says Andrews has intimated that he was happy at Town and would be interested in staying if a deal can be done with both Blackburn and himself.
