Town Waiting on Carson - Ipswich Town News

Manager Paul Jewell has revealed that the club are waiting to hear Josh Carson’s agent's response to Town's offer of a new contract. The Northern Ireland international is one of the 16 players whose terms are up at the end of the season.

Jewell says he’s not quite sure where things are but confirmed that the 18-year-old has been handed new terms: "The club’s made Josh Carson an offer and I don’t know where we are.

"I spoke with Marcus briefly [on Wednesday] and with Simon Clegg [on Thursday] and they’ve made Josh’s agent an offer. I don’t know whether that’s been accepted or not.”

The other 15 players whose deals at up at the end of June are Jason Scotland, Grant Leadbitter, Richard Wright, Mark Kennedy, Tommy Smith, Shane O’Connor, Carlos Edwards, Ibrahima Sonko, Ívar Ingimarsson, Lee Bowyer, Luke Hyam, Tamás Priskin, Ronan Murray, Cody Cropper and Cormac Burke.

Jack Ainsley recently signed a deal until June 2013, while Jamie Griffiths, who like Ainsley had been on a six-month deal which is up this month, has not been offered a new contract and is currently training with Colchester United.

Meanwhile, 14-year-old Debenham High School pupil George Fowler has agreed a two-year scholarship with the Academy. The midfielder or defender is a regular in Town’s U16s.
