Blues boss Paul Jewell was still to hear a response to his recent enquiries regarding two transfer targets after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Reading.
Jewell, who previously revealed that one of the players got injured on Boxing Day, said: "You make enquiries and people mull them over. We have made two enquiries for players and we haven’t heard anything back from the clubs.
"We’ve got people that we’d like to bring in, whether we can bring them in in January or whether we’ll have to wait until the summer we don’t know. We want to bring in players who will be here for the long-term.”
While loanee Keith Andrews is very much amongst Jewell's January targets, the subjects of the enquiries are so far a mystery.
Reflecting on the Reading defeat, the Liverpudlian added: "We’ve played worse and got points recently and there are encouraging signs.
"If you look at the bottom line, we’ve lost the game 1-0 but if you look in between that, there wasn’t a lot between the two teams.”
