TWTD understands that Derby midfielder Paul Green is amongst Blues boss Paul Jewell’s January targets. Green, who Jewell signed during his spell as manager at Pride Park, is out of contract at the end of the season with Rams boss Nigel Clough admitting that he may accept offers for the Republic of Ireland international.
Pontefract-born Green, 28, started his career with Doncaster Rovers, the current Town manager taking him to Derby on a free transfer in the summer of 2008.
Green is a regular in the Rams side but with no new contract yet agreed, Clough admitted earlier this week that the 5ft 9in tall midfielder could move on during January: "I think we’ll see what happens this month, and see if we get any offers in.
"We certainly won’t be going out looking for offers, and we would love to keep Paul around for the rest of this season.
"But that may be dictated by other clubs and any offer that comes in. We asked him if he wanted to stay last April or May, and that didn’t come across then.”
Green, who has won nine full Irish caps, scoring once, can also operate at full-back in addition to his more regular central midfield role.
