Blues boss Paul Jewell says Ronan Murray could be allowed to join Swindon on a permanent basis if the Irish U21 international wants to make the switch to the Robins, with whom he has been on loan since November. The 20-year-old's spell is up after the weekend.
Swindon manager Paolo Di Canio has already laid claim to Murray stating that he "belongs to us” but Jewell says that’s not the case as yet: "I have to tell Paolo that he’s our player! I think they’ve made an offer. Their chief executive [Jeremy Wray] has put something to Simon Clegg, but I haven’t really looked at it yet.
"I’m really pleased for Ronan that he’s gone out and is playing football. He’s a great lad, he’s had limited opportunities here and if he wants to go to Swindon and we can do something to make it happen, we’ll give Paolo his wish.”
Jewell also revealed that Jaime Peters was close to a loan switch to SPL side St Johnstone until red tape held up his move: "I spoke to Steve Lomas at St Johnstone but he’s got that three-club cross-border thing — he was at Bournemouth and he played for us against Northampton. That means he can’t go abroad to play for another club and Scotland is a move across a border.”
The Blues boss confirmed that the Canadian international will be allowed to move on to other Football League clubs on loan.
