Medal Mystery - Ipswich Town News

A mystery Town UEFA Cup winners' medal is going on sale at Bonhams and Brooks next month with Town aware that this important piece of Ipswich memorabilia is available.

The club is unaware which player's medal it is, although it is not the player who is currently putting the medal on the market. Whichever player it is sold his medal with the current owner picking it up in a jeweller's shop.

Several players have already stepped forward to say that it isn't theirs. Alan Brazil and Steve McCall have both said they would never get rid of a prized possession such as that, while TWTD saw John Wark's just a couple of weeks ago.

All members of the team and substitutes were awarded medals and it is most likely that this medal belonged to one of the subs.

David Sheepshanks says the club are aware the medal is to go on sale and that they are looking at making a bid for it.

The team that day was: Cooper, Mills, McCall, Thijssen, Osman, Butcher, Wark, Muhren, Mariner, Brazil, Gates. Subs were Turner, Sivell, O'Callaghan, Parkin and Steggles.
