Andrews in Contract Termination Talks at Blackburn - Ipswich Town News

Former loanee Keith Andrews is reported to be in talks with his current club Blackburn regarding the termination of his contract. The 31-year-old has 18 months remaining on his lucrative deal but doesn’t want to play for the Ewood Park club again.

Wigan are understood to be heading the race for the Ireland international’s signature, while Blues boss Paul Jewell admitted that with Premier League clubs interested, Andrews is unlikely to be returning to Portman Road. Leeds United are also being linked.

Meanwhile, Crewe midfielder Nick Powell is concentrating on his game despite all the talk about his future with the Blues understood to have made an unsuccessful offer for the 17-year-old last week: "People tell me about speculation but I just try to ignore it.

"I am a Crewe player and want to do well and hopefully get the club into the play-offs. That’s the aim. At this stage of my development it is important to be playing week in, week out.

"There is a learning process to go through, physically and mentally. This is the best club for me now.

"I am hoping to add a lot more to my game. I hope to score more goals — I am aiming for 12 this season.”

The Railwaymen continue to claim Town haven’t made a bid, while the Blues are not believed to have made a second offer for the England U18 international so far.

Elsewhere, former loanee Giovani Dos Santos is in advanced talks with Villarreal with his unhappy spell at Spurs finally appearing to be coming to an end.

And finally, there seems little likelihood of reports of Town loan interest in Manchester United's Michael Owen having any substance to them.
