Falkirk defender Murray Wallace will return to his current club on loan for the remainder of the season whether he decides to join Town, Brighton or Huddersfield, the Bairns are reported to have confirmed.
All three clubs have agreed a fee of £300,000 plus add-ons with the Scottish League Division One side and are set to hold talks with the player.
Swansea, Charlton, Norwich and Newcastle are also understood to have been keeping tabs on the 19-year-old former Rangers trainee.
Meanwhile, boss Paul Jewell admits frustrations regarding the convoluted and slow nature of doing transfer business these days: "We’re against the clock now and I understand we need to bring players in to help the group we’ve got.
"I’m concerned, but it’s not like we’ve just decided last week that we need players. We’ve been trying really hard to bring people in, but transfers are so long and drawn out these days.
"They take up so much energy and, to be honest, include so much bull. I get really tired of it.”
