Iran have taken a step closer to becoming Matt Holland and Ireland's World Cup play-off opponents. In their home leg of their qualifier Iran beat the United Arab Emirates 1-0.

The second leg is in Abu Dhabi next week. Holland has said he will travel to the Middle East for Ireland's game despite the current political situation.
