Palace Renew Interest in Delaney - Ipswich Town News
TWTD understands that Crystal Palace have renewed their interest in Town defender Damien Delaney. The Eagles targeted the 30-year-old centre-half a year ago as part of a joint bid along with former skipper David Norris.
The Blues rebuffed that offer and the Irish international subsequently signed a new contract until June 2013.
This time around Town may be more willing to sell with two central defenders amongst the recently lodged bids, Portsmouth’s Jason Pearce and Falkirk’s Murray Wallace.
The Cork-born defender, who joined the Blues from QPR in 2009, has been in and out of the Town side this season, partly due to a foot injury which required surgery before Christmas.
Palace valued Delaney at £350,000 when they made their approach last year and Town may be willing to accept a similar figure, as long as they land at least one central defensive target before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
