Appleton Not Told Identity of Third Man - Ipswich Town News

Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton admits that he hasn’t officially been told the identity of the third Pompey player the Blues are targeting. As reported last night, we understand goalkeeper Stephen Henderson is the third man on boss Paul Jewell’s wish list along with Jason Pearce and Joel Ward.

Discussions are ongoing between the clubs’ off-field management with Appleton admitting that he’s not certain of the third target: "I’ve got a good idea who it is but I haven’t been told about it.

"I don’t want anyone to go but I might get a call at any time. We know the position the club are in.”

But the Pompey boss claims losing members of his already stretched squad isn’t inevitable, particularly if there are developments on the ownership front with Sicilian American businessman Joseph Cala understood to be reviving his move for the club.

"It’s not an absolute must,” he insisted. "From our view, that’s why we don’t have to take the first bid which comes along.”
