Town appear to have missed out on signing Falkirk youngster Murray Wallace with the Scottish League Division One club announcing that they expect him to join League One Huddersfield later today. The Blues, Brighton and the Terriers had all agreed a £300,000 plus add-ons fee for the 19-year-old.
Wallace is currently at Huddersfield where he is undergoing a medical, having been at Town yesterday and Brighton last week. The Terriers are understood to have offered both the player and the club a better financial package than both the Blues and the Seagulls with the fee reportedly potentially rising to £700,000.
Falkirk boss Steven Pressley said: "The deal has almost been concluded but there are one or two bits and pieces to finalise.
"Murray has been fantastic for us but it is not the parting of the ways as the deal means he will remain at Falkirk till the end of the season.
"It is an excellent bit of business by the club for, with add-ons, it could mount up to quite a substantial figure over time.
"Obviously we will miss him when he eventually goes as he is a terrific young player. However, this is part of our long-term Academy strategy and we are comfortable with the move.”
