No Loans Imminent - Ipswich Town News

Blues boss Paul Jewell said no one was set to join the club at the start of the ‘emergency loan window’ on Wednesday after Saturday's game at Coventry. The Town manager will be looking to add to his central defenders — and perhaps other areas of the squad — with TWTD understanding that former Blue Titus Bramble, currently at Sunderland, is on his list of potential loanees.

Clearly still feeling the cold having watched his side’s dramatic 3-2 victory at the Ricoh Arena, Jewell said there was no news on the signing front and joked that open windows were far from his thoughts: "No, we won’t be opening any windows in this weather!”

The Blues have been linked with Bramble for a couple of weeks but with Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill dismissing reports of a Town approach for the 30-year-old before the January transfer window closed.

However, we understand that there is indeed some interest on the part of the Blues, although no move would appear likely in the short-term, even if O’Neill sanctions one, with Bramble continuing to struggle with an Achilles injury.

That may mean Jewell looks elsewhere to strengthen his backline with the likes of Middlesbrough’s Stephen McManus also linked, while ex-loanee Danny Collins is still at Stoke, a move to Southampton not having gone through before the window closed.

Meanwhile, one of Sunday’s tabloids claims Town and Hull made deadline day moves for Derby’s Paul Green, leading to the Republic of Ireland international being pulled out of the Rams’ midweek fixture at Barnsley.

Earlier in the transfer window, Blues boss Paul Jewell, who signed Green during his spell as manager at Pride Park, confirmed that he had spoken to the former Doncaster man’s agent.

Elsewhere, former Town manager Roy Keane is reportedly set to be the next boss at Millwall.
