Bristol City Targeting Scotland on Loan - Ipswich Town News

Bristol City want to take Town striker Jason Scotland on loan for the remainder of their season. The 20th-placed Robins are managed by Derek McInnes, who played alongside the 32-year-old frontman at his first UK club Dundee United between 2003 and 2005.

The former Swansea and Wigan man is currently out of the first XI with Michael Chopra having taken his place in the side for the last two games, scoring three goals.

Scotland may be interested in the switch if he feels that he has a greater chance of playing first team football at Ashton Gate - and perhaps of winning a longer term move in the summer - while Town may consider the offer with the Trinidadian out of contract but having a clause in his deal which means he gets another year at his current wage if he makes three more league starts.

Speaking at the end of last week, McInnes confirmed that Bristol City are on the lookout for a striker on loan with Nicky Maynard having joined West Ham for £2 million on the final day of the transfer window: "I think we’re a wee bit short up front and I’m certainly considering bringing another forward in now that Nicky has gone.”

If Scotland does move on, the Blues would appear certain to look to the loan market themselves with strikers in short supply, Tamás Priskin having left to join Russian side Alania Vladikavkaz and Ronan Murray on loan at Swindon until the end of the season.

Football League clubs have been able to bring players in on 93-day loans on an 'emergency' basis since Wednesday, deals which now stretch to the end of the regular season, but not the play-offs.
