Dutch Youngster on Trial - Ipswich Town News
TWTD understands that Dutch youngster Jordy ter Borgh was the trialist who played for Town’s reserves in Tuesday’s 1-0 behind-closed-doors victory over Crystal Palace.
Attacking midfielder ter Borgh is a youth player with Almere City, who play in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football. His father René is the club’s chairman.
Speaking about the trialist at Thursday’s press conference, although without naming him, manager Paul Jewell said: "He’s still here, just a kid, a 17-year-old lad we’re having a look at for a week.
"He played some part of the [reserve] game, which was why it was behind closed doors and we’ll monitor his progress.”
The paperwork involved in playing friendlies with spectators present is more complicated if trialists, particularly those with overseas clubs, are involved.
