Griffiths Set to Join Braintree - Ipswich Town News

Released Blues midfielder Jamie Griffiths is set to be offered a deal by Blue Square Bet Premier side Braintree Town. Griffiths has been training with the Iron since last week and played in a friendly against Southend on Tuesday.

Manager Alan Devonshire said: "Jamie may be signing after coming in and doing well on the left. I’ll have a chat with him to see if we can sort something out."

He added: "Jamie is a fit lad, with a good left foot and I will offer us something different on that side. He is raw and has a lot to learn, but I like what I’ve seen so far.”

Griffiths signed a six-month deal with Town last summer which wasn’t extended when it was up in December. Since then the 20-year-old has also spent time on trial with Gillingham and Colchester but without winning a contract.

The Bury-born Academy product made one senior appearance for the Blues as a sub late on in last season's Carling Cup victory over Northampton.
