Griffiths Joins Sudbury - Ipswich Town News
Released Blues midfielder Jamie Griffiths has joined Ryman League Division One North side AFC Sudbury and not Blue Square Bet Premier club Braintree, where he had been on trial.
Griffiths, who made his debut for his new club in last week's 3-3 draw with Enfield, says he felt opportunities might be limited at Braintree: "I had been offered to sign until the end of the season but I wanted to play games and was not guaranteed that there.”
Griffiths signed a six-month deal with Town last summer which wasn’t extended when it was up in December. Since then the 20-year-old has also spent time on trial with Gillingham and Colchester but without winning a contract.
The Bury-born Academy product made one senior appearance for the Blues as a sub late on in last season's Carling Cup victory over Northampton.

Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match AbandonedTown look set to face a return trip to Blackburn Rovers later in the season after this afternoon’s game was abandoned after 80 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch with the home side 1-0 up and with the Blues down to 10 men. Jacob Greaves was shown a straight red card four minutes after the break for hauling down Yuki Ohashi, then Rovers skipper Todd Cantwell netted a penalty on 59, but the heavy rain had made the game increasingly farcical the longer it progressed and in the 80th minute referee Stephen Martin took the players off and then 25 minutes later abandoned it entirely.
