Ill Miliband Watches Town - Ipswich Town News
Labour Party leader Ed Miliband was a guest of Hull City owner Assem Allam at Town’s 2-2 draw at the KC Stadium on Saturday. Miliband’s presence at the match has led to a fair amount of media comment after he missed a protest against NHS reforms in Hull earlier in the day.
Miliband, a Leeds fan, had been expected to speak to health professionals and union activists at a rally in Hull’s Queen Victoria Square at midday but he cancelled the evening before due to illness.
A spokesman for Labour said: "Ed was ill on Friday and Saturday morning. He travelled to Yorkshire as soon as he was able but it was, unfortunately, too late to make the NHS rally. He was disappointed it couldn’t happen.”
Meanwhile, Blues midfielder Jimmy Bullard is reported to have received a "very minimal” sum from the recent settlement of his compensation claim against former employers Hull. Both parties are understood to have signed confidentiality clauses relating to the agreement.
The 33-year-old, whose suspension by Town is up on Friday, had his contract terminated by the Tigers after an alleged incident on the club’s pre-season trip to Slovenia.
