Bowyer: Encouraging Signs for the Future - Ipswich Town News

Lee Bowyer points to the improvement in form of several players as encouraging factors to suggest Ipswich could enjoy a more productive 2012/13 campaign.

Bowyer said: "JET has had a good back end to the season and Lee Martin has done well. They weren’t really that involved in the first half of the season.

"JET has got fitter and done very well. There are a lot of midfielders in contention but you need that many, especially in this division with the number of games you have to play and the fact that there will always be injuries and suspensions.

"I picked up my groin injury because I tried to play on the Monday [versus Nottingham Forest on January 2] following a game on the Saturday. Jimmy Bullard was ill and I said ‘I’m a bit stiff but I’ll try’.

"I now know it’s not something I should have done. Years ago I could have done it but not now. The manager has said I’ve done well coming off the bench and I accept it’s a squad game.

"I’ll keep working hard in training and with so many games coming up the manager might think it best to make changes, even if it is just to freshen things up.”
