Boss Paul Jewell said his Town side still need to be more defensively-minded after errors at the back led to the Blues losing another game from a winning position at Watford on Saturday. The 2-1 defeat was the fifth time Town had lost having been in front this season with a further three ending in draws, which adds up to 21 points dropped from winning positions over the campaign.
Jewell, whose side has now conceded 67 goals during 2011/12, more than anyone else in the Championship, says he and his staff continue to work on what’s been Town’s Achilles’ heel since he came to the club 14 months ago: "It’s something we’ve been trying to address for an awful long time, and it’s something that we will address and we are addressing. It’s an ongoing thing.
"It’s not just individuals, it’s the team. The whole team need to be more defensive-minded when the opposition have got the ball.”
Previously, the Town manager’s success at Wigan was based on a frugal defence — which included former Blue Jason De Vos — with the Latics conceding just 25 goals in their 2002/03 League One title season.
