Jewell Disappointed With Cropper's Agent - Ipswich Town News

Boss Paul Jewell has criticised the way Cody Cropper’s agent handled the US U20 goalkeeper’s release by Town. The Blues boss decided not to offer the 19-year-old a new contract on the advice of the club’s goalkeeping staff, who didn’t think the US U20 international was quite up to the required level.

Jewell says he wasn’t happy that the players’ representative spoke to the Atlanta-born keeper before he had: "I was a bit disappointed with his agent because I’d spoken to his agent and his agent went and told the lad before I did. But I explained it to Cody and he understands that that was his agent’s fault.”

The Town manager says the 6ft 3in tall keeper isn’t of the required standard and in any case probably wouldn’t have had too many opportunities if he had been offered terms: "We wish him well, he’s a terrific lad, but I can’t say yes to everybody.

"We had a discussion with the goalkeeping staff and we just think he’s just a little bit short, although not in terms of height, at the moment.”
