Town target Joel Ward says he doesn’t know where his future lies with the Portsmouth summer fire sale getting under way. Central defender Jason Pearce, who was targeted by the Blues in January, is set to complete his switch to Leeds today, while Greg Halford is being chased by a number of Championship clubs.
Ward, whose agent spoke to Paul Jewell last week but is yet to talk to owner Marcus Evans, says he’s in the dark about where he’ll be playing his football next season: "I don’t know what’s going on. The club have said there will have to be players that have to leave.
‘But it’s not in my hands. I don’t know [whether my future lies elsewhere]. I’ve been here a long time. I’ve started my career here and had great times here.”
A local lad, Ward admits that it will be hard to move on: "I’ve been at the club since I was eight and I’m now 22.
"I’m from this area. I want to see the club back on its feet and move forward. It’s out of my hands and I really don’t know what is going to happen.”
