Town and striker Nathan Ellington’s representatives are understood to be in talks regarding the settlement of the 30-year-old’s Blues contract. Ellington, who played for manager Paul Jewell at Wigan, has made only three starts — just one in the league — and 14 sub appearances without scoring since signing on a free transfer from Watford last summer.
Speaking recently, Jewell, who flew out on holiday earlier today, indicated that he wouldn’t stand in the frontman’s way if he wanted to move on despite having a year left on his contract: "He’s been disappointing Duke, there’s no two ways about it.
"I see him every day in training and I saw a piece where he said he hadn’t had a chance, but what he does in training, or what he doesn’t do, or what other people do in training can highly influence my decision on a Saturday.
"He hasn’t had a run in the team, there’s no doubt about that, but since he left Wigan he hasn’t really had a run in anyone’s team. Maybe he’s one that might have to leave in the summer.”
The Blues boss also said that Jaime Peters might be better off moving on as well after a season in which he featured in only the Carling Cup defeat to Northampton: "I think it’s about time Jaime moved on as well.”
