Quartet Chasing Ward - Ipswich Town News
Town, Leeds, Crystal Palace and Burnley are understood to be the four clubs in the running for versatile Portsmouth defender or midfielder Joel Ward's signature. The 22-year-old is believed to have been at Elland Road for talks on Wednesday and is likely to make a decision on his new club next week.
Town have been targeting Ward, who is expected to leave his hometown club for a fee approaching £500,000, since January when he was one of three Pompey players the Blues were chasing.
Offers were accepted for Ward and keeper Stephen Henderson, who is now with West Ham, but the moves broke down over personal terms. A bid for central defender Jason Pearce was turned down and the former Bournemouth man recently moved to Leeds.
On Wednesday, reports claimed Ward is most likely to join his former team-mate at the West Yorkshire club.
