Town Continue to Eye Newport Defender - Ipswich Town News
Town have continued to monitor 19-year-old Newport County left-back or centre-half Andrew Hughes, according to reports in Wales. Coventry City, Wolves, Charlton Athletic and the former Wales Schoolboys international’s previous club Cardiff are also said to have been keeping an eye on the 6ft 2in tall defender.
The Blues were previously mentioned in connection with Hughes in November when the Addicks and Sky Blues were also linked.
The Welshman was with Cardiff as a schoolboy before joining Blue Square Bet Premier club Newport’s youth set-up. Contracted until June 2014, he has made 43 appearances this season.
Hughes is set to start for Newport in Saturday’s FA Trophy final against York City at Wembley.
