Derby Striker Linked - Ipswich Town News
Town, Leeds and Bristol City are battling it out for Derby County striker Steve Davies, according to tabloid reports. The Whites are claimed to be ready to launch a £1 million offer for the 24-year-old with the Blues and Robins also said to be interested.
The Town link may due to Blues boss Paul Jewell having signed Davies from Tranmere for a fee which could have risen as high as £725,000 had various clauses been triggered when manager at Pride Park.
Injuries - including a fractured skull last October - have limited Davies to only 55 starts and 39 sub appearances in his four years with Derby, scoring 23 goals, 12 of them in 2011/12.
[Update]
Rams manager Nigel Clough revealed on Tuesday morning that Davies has been transfer-listed having turned down the offer of a new contract due to "a genuine family reason". Davies has a year remaining on his current deal, Derby having taken up an option on his previous terms.
