Ever Dreamed of Playing for Town? - Ipswich Town News

For the majority of us, Paul Jewell will overlook our talents and playing for Town will remain just a dream. But there is an alternative.

Punch Drunk FC has been established since 1998, playing league matches, and entering tournaments in the IFA.

PDFC are very active throughout the year, competing in the IFA league, and in doing so travelling the country playing the counterpart fans teams such as Preston, Coventry, West Ham, Dagenham and Barnsley.

PDFC has always put the major emphasis on being a social side, with an importance placed on giving anyone who wants to play football in a Town shirt the opportunity to do so, and then have a couple of beers afterwards. Weekends in far-flung destinations often combine playing for PDFC, watching ITFC in the afternoon and hitting the drinking holes in the evening.

Playing for PDFC is not a commitment. While some players have played in all 20 matches, others who can only commit to the occasional match are welcomed just as much. As matches are played all over the country, your own location isn’t an issue. It is positive for us to have players based outside of Suffolk.

With the major annual tournament in Leeds on the horizon, on the weekend of 20-22 July, PDFC thought this would be an ideal time to try and bring new players on board, especially as we take sides for the veterans competition in addition to the main tournament, so age is not a boundary to getting involved.

If you are interested in getting involved, then email PDFC at punchdrunkfc@gmail.com for details or to have any query answered.
