Lewis Joins Cardiff - Ipswich Town News

Former Peterborough keeper Joe Lewis has signed a contract with Cardiff City. The 24-year-old was a free agent having been released by Posh and as we reported earlier in the month had been sounded out by the Blues as well as the Bluebirds as Paul Jewell looks to bring in a new number one ahead of the start of the 2012/13 campaign.

We understand Town didn't follow up their initial contact with ex-Canary Lewis, who is well-known to Blues keeper-coach Malcolm Webster from his time working with him at his other clubs.

Similarly, Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay and their keeper-coach James Hollman are also familiar with Lewis, who came through the ranks at Carrow Road.

The Blues' number one target is Polish international Tomasz Kuszczak, who is set to leave Manchester United this summer.

However, Town face very stiff opposition for his signature with top flight clubs in England and Germany believed to be interested.

Birmingham’s Colin Doyle has also been linked but with sources close to Portman Road playing down the Blues’ interest.

Elsewhere, Dundee United midfielder Scott Robertson, who was recently linked with the Blues, has said he is as yet undecided on where he will play football next year.
