Jewell Remaining Patient - Ipswich Town News

Blues boss Paul Jewell says he’s remaining patient as he looks to add around six players to his squad ahead of 2012/13. Right-back Elliott Hewitt became the first signing of the summer when he joined from Macclesfield last week, while plenty of names have been linked with moves to Portman Road since the season ended.

Jewell, who dismisses many of those links as purely speculative, says getting the right players signed is the priority, not signing them in a hurry: "Not many deals get done so early in the summer and we’re in no rush anyway. It’s important to get the right players on the right terms.

"Supporters always want to see new faces arriving and I’m as impatient as anyone, more so, in trying to bring players here, but you have to remain patient.

"Signing players is a complicated business nowadays. It’s just the way it is. Yes, in an ideal world I’d like to have all our players in place by the time we return to pre-season training in July, but we don’t live in an ideal world.”

The Town squad are due back at Playford Road for the start of their 2012/13 preparations on July 5th.
