Town have confirmed the signing of former Nottingham Forest skipper Luke Chambers on a three-year deal. The 26-year-old free agent was at Portman Road this morning to tie up the detail of his move, having been at the club last Tuesday for a medical and to look at the stadium and training facilities.
Chambers told the club site: "I'm delighted to be an Ipswich Town player. I spoke to a few people in the game that know the manager and Ipswich and they had nothing but good words to say. Coming here was a no-brainer for me."
Manager Paul Jewell added: "There were a few clubs in for Luke but I always felt confident we would get him and I'm delighted we have."
Chambers is Town’s second signing of the summer after Macclesfield’s Elliott Hewitt, who joined for a fee of £250,000 plus top-ups at the end of May, also signing a three-year deal.
Town have announced a press conference at 4pm this afternoon.
