Target Davies Linked With Blackburn Talks - Ipswich Town News

Town target Steve Davies is reported to be in talks with Blackburn Rovers. The 24-year-old frontman has confirmed that he will be on his way out of Derby this summer having turned down a new contract at Pride Park for unspecified family reasons.

Davies, who Blues manager Paul Jewell brought to Derby from Tranmere during his time as boss with the East Midlands club, recently said that he was looking for a club in the south, although nothing was confirmed: "My family are actually from London, so I think it will be down south, but not 100% just yet.”

The 6ft 1in tall striker, who has a year left on his Derby contract, was recently reported to have confirmed that the Blues were amongst the clubs interested in him, while Leeds and Bristol City were mentioned in connection with him earlier in the summer. At the weekend, the local Derby press claimed the Blues were still the frontrunners for Davies's signature.

Injuries - including a fractured skull last October - have limited him to only 55 starts and 39 sub appearances in his four years with the Rams, in which time he has scored 23 goals, 12 of them during 2011/12.
