More on Le Pen - Ipswich Town News

TWTD has learnt more about Town's prospective new signing Ulrich Le Pen. The 27-year-old is a silky left winger with excellent technical skills, although not the greatest goalscorer, just 4-5 a season. He is, however described as a very attacking player who is a good passer of the ball with an excellent disciplinary record.

Loïc from Lorientais.com says he is very surprised that Le Pen should be the target of a Premiership club and that he is not a player who has been linked with other teams recently. The player is currently in Ipswich having talks with George Burley.

Loïc adds that the one area of weakness Le Pen has shown is his body strength, something he will have to work on if he is to be a success in the Premier League.

Last season the Brittany-born player, who is nicknamed Lulu, was his club's Player of the Year and supporters are not happy that he is leaving. He has been with Lorient since 1998. Previously he was with Laval and prior to that he was with Rennes. Lorient are not in a great financial situation, hence the sale.

A big fan of golf and particularly Tiger Woods, Le Pen is married with one child.

This season he has scored no goals in 12 games, but he has had an excellent year so far, even prompting Loïc to suggest we should be paying nearer £3 million for him, particularly with Lorient being promoted at the end of last season. He also has a dedicated unofficial website: http://www.ulrichlepen.fr.st/
