Heskey Training With Wigan - Ipswich Town News

Former England striker Emile Heskey, with whom Blues manager Paul Jewell is understood to have held preliminary talks, is reported to be training with his former club Wigan Athletic. The 34-year-old was released by Aston Villa at the end of last season.

Asked about his interest in Heskey last week, Jewell refused to be drawn: "There are always reports. I’ve spoken to a number of players and agents over the summer. I don’t hide the fact that we want another forward and at least two other players in the squad.

"I don’t want to really discuss what I do privately. I understand you guys [the media] have got a job to do and you can always speculate, but sometimes conversations - whether it’s between me and Emile Heskey or somebody else - until there’s anything definite they’ll always remain private.”
