Smith Enjoyed Brazil Experience Despite Defeat - Ipswich Town News
Blues defender Tommy Smith says he enjoyed playing against Brazil despite a 3-0 defeat at St James’ Park which ensured his New Zealand side exited the Olympics having finished bottom of their group.
Goals from Danilo (23) Leandro Damiao (29) and Sandro (52) saw the South Americans, who ended the match with 10 men after Alex Sandro was red-carded, to victory.
Smith tweeted: "Apart from getting rainbowed by Leandro, I enjoyed the experience of playing against some of the world’s best young players!
"Proud of the lads, everyone gave all they had. An experience we will never, ever forget!”
Smith will now return to Town to join up with the squad ahead of Saturday’s friendly against West Ham.
