Bennett Set for Forest After German Trial - Ipswich Town News

TWTD understands that former Blues academy full-back Callum Bennett has been offered a contract by Nottingham Forest. We understand that the right-back previously spent time on trial with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer.

Bennett, last season’s U18s captain, turned down a one-year deal with Town when his scholarship was up at the end of the 2011/12 campaign.

Previously we revealed that the former Kesgrave High School pupil, who also operates in midfield and at centre-half, had been offered terms by Sheffield Wednesday, where his former Blues academy team-mate Caolan Lavery now plays, while Aston Villa had also shown interest.

Meanwhile, Town could be amongst what's likely to be a number of Championship clubs interested in striker Dave Kitson now that he has settled his contract with Portsmouth.

Kitson, 32, is understood to be viewed as an alternative to Steve Davies with the Blues and Derby having been unable to agree a fee for the ex-Tranmere man.

At 6ft 3in tall, the former Cambridge, Reading, Stoke and Middlesbrough (loan) man would appear to very much be in the mould of the type of big striker Paul Jewell wants to add to his squad.
