Jewell: I've Made No Approach for Rangers Midfielder Edu - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Paul Jewell says that the Blues haven’t made an offer to Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu, contrary to their manager Ally McCoist’s comments yesterday. The Blues manager says he hasn’t spoken to McCoist about the US international.
Jewell said: "We haven’t made Maurice Edu an offer. We can’t make an offer to Maurice Edu or to any player unless we’ve agreed with the club, it’s illegal to do that.”
Some reports have suggested Edu is available on a free transfer as he hasn’t transferred his contract to the Rangers newco but Jewell says he’s not familiar with the situation: "I don’t know because I haven’t asked the question.
"I spoke to Ally McCoist in the summer about a player who is in Scotland and that’s the only conversation I’ve had with him. I haven’t asked him about Maurice Edu.”
