Edwards Hopeful He Could Face Huddersfield - Ipswich Town News

Skipper Carlos Edwards says the groin injury which forced him off early in the Capital One Cup defeat at Carlisle is improving. The Trinidadian is hopeful he’ll be able to take his regular place at right-back in Saturday’s home game against Huddersfield.

Edwards told the club site: "The injury is settling down faster that I first thought but obviously it is still early days and I don’t want to aggravate it.

"I’m sure I will sit down with the manager and the physio over the next couple of days to make a decision on it.

"We have the international break coming up, so obviously I don’t want to further injure myself ahead of the break, but I’m hoping I can be fit.

"We will see what happens over the next day or so, but it the end it will be up to the gaffer.”

If Edwards fails to make it Jack Ainsley looks likely to start with summer signing Elliott Hewitt still sidelined having undergone hip impingement operations while with Macclesfield.

The Wales U21 international is close to a return to full training and is likely to be available late in September.

Meanwhile, new signing Guirane N’Daw was in training with the Blues squad for the first time at Playford Road this morning.
