Jewell Doesn't Expect Any Deadline Day Deals - Ipswich Town News

Blues boss Paul Jewell says he doesn’t expect to sign any more players before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Jewell, who has added Guirane N’Daw, Paul Taylor and Daryl Murphy to his squad, but doesn’t expect any further additions before the provision to bring in loan players is open to Football League clubs next week: "We’ve made numerous phonecalls and tried to do deals for other players which haven’t quite happened yet, which happens because the Premier League is still trading until 12 o’clock tonight and if they get the players they want, we might be able to get some players from the Premier League clubs [on loan] until January.

"I don’t think we’re going to bring anyone in today, but maybe after the window opens next week we’ll bring in some more players to the club.”

He says that despite reports to the contrary earlier, there is nothing currently happening with Peterborough’s George Boyd: "We spoke with him, I met with the lad and for different reasons the deal couldn’t be done.

"It’s one that could possibly be revisited as time goes along, we’ll have to wait and see.”

Meanwhile, Jewell says there has been no interest in any of his players - other than Ryan Stevenson who is in talks regarding a free transfer to Hearts - but would like to send some of his youngsters, including Ronan Murray, out on loan.
