Blues manager Paul Jewell had praise for Jack Ainsley after the Felixstowe-based right-back made his first home league start for Town in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Huddersfield.
Jewell was impressed with the 21-year-old, who was making his first senior start for a year: "I thought he did well. He gave everything he’s got, he put a couple of great balls into the box. They put a ball into the box and scored from it, Jack put a great ball in and it went straight across the box.
"I thought he stuck to his task well because Danny Ward’s a good player. I was pleased with Jack. I thought he was honest, which we know he is, going forward he was eager, sometimes a bit too eager, but I have to say I’m pleased with his performance.”
The Blues boss felt penalty-saving hero Scott Loach had had the busiest afternoon of his Town career so far: "I know we got beaten 6-0 last week but he didn’t have any real saves to make.
"Today he’s made one just after half-time, he’s made a double save, then the penalty save and then one late on from James Vaughan.”
Jewell thought Michael Chopra took his goal, which he thought ought to have been the winner, with great confidence: "It was a good finish, there was a bit of a deflection to get him there, but it was a cool finish, however, we just couldn’t hold on.”
