Win More Tickets to the David Johnson Sporting Dinner - Ipswich Town News

Throughout the week TWTD is offering readers the chance to win five pairs of tickets to the sporting dinner featuring 1970s Blues striker David Johnson at Greshams in Tuddenham Road on Friday 14th September (7.15pm).

The man known as Jonty was at Portman Road between 1972 and 1976 and also played for Liverpool, Everton, Manchester City and Preston, as well as winning eight full England caps and scoring six international goals.

In addition to entertaining and occasionally painful tales from Johnson’s career, there will also be a five-course meal and top comedian Mike Lancaster, while ex-Blue Simon Milton will be the MC.

You can hear Johnson talking about his time with Town and with former team-mates Kevin Beattie and Trevor Whymark on last Saturday’s Life’s a Pitch here (01:07:00).

To win the second pair of tickets, answer the following question in an email sent to competition@twtd.co.uk arriving before midnight tonight. Who were the opponents when Johnson scored twice in a 2-2 draw on his England debut in May 1975?

The winner, who we’ll announce tomorrow when we’ll be giving away another pair of tickets, will be selected at random from the correct answers. Yesterday’s winner was Oliver Gardiner, who correctly told us that Rod Belfitt was the player who moved the other way when Johnson joined Town from Everton.

If you don’t want to wait to see whether you win the competition, a single ticket costs £35, while a table of 10 is £320. All prices are inclusive of VAT.

To reserve or purchase tickets, please call or email
