Stoke Will Send Fringe Players Out on Loan - Ipswich Town News
Stoke City chief executive Tony Scholes has confirmed that his club will make some of their fringe players available for loan. Football League clubs are able to take players on 93-day 'emergency' loans from tomorrow with Potters’ centre-half Matthew Upson amongst Paul Jewell’s top targets.
Scholes said: "The fact we have made seven signings speaks for itself. The backing that the Coates family has again given the club is incredible.
"Now we have to balance things and move some players out as well. It’s fair to say we have ended up with more in the squad than is appropriate.”
Upson, 33, has been included Stoke’s 25-man squad but looks a little way off the first team at the Britannia Stadium and so still may be available for loan.
Fellow defender Danny Higginbotham, also 33, a Blues target in January, has not been included in the 25.
