Town are understood to have approached Southend regarding loaning defender Bilel Mohsni with a view to a permanent deal in January. On Monday, TWTD revealed that the 25-year-old was spending the week on trial with the Blues.
The French-Tunisian put in an assured display and scored a 30-yard second-half strike during yesterday’s 6-0 U21s victory over Cardiff City at Playford Road.
Mohsni has a year left on his contract and although Southend are willing to let him move on, last month they turned down an offer of around £150,000 from West Ham after the versatile Paris-born defender, striker or winger impressed while on trial at Upton Park. The Shrimpers were said to want a significantly higher sum.
Football League clubs are able to sign players on 93-day ‘emergency’ loans from today.
