Edwards Back for Boro Trip - Ipswich Town News

Skipper Carlos Edwards is over his groin injury and set to return to the Town side taking on Middlesbrough at the Riverside on Saturday.

Blues boss Paul Jewell confirmed that the Trinidadian is over his groin injury and that fellow defender Tommy Smith is due back from New Zealand this afternoon: "Carlos is OK. Tommy’s back at 12.30.

"It’s a nonsensical situation in my view, but Tommy did it last year, he played against Bristol City after getting back on the Friday morning. He’s well used to it, but it’s not an ideal situation.

Jewell confirmed that recent signing Guirane N’Daw could make his Blues debut against the Teessiders: "He’s worked exceptionally hard for the last three weeks. Obviously he hasn’t had a lot of game time but he’s in contention for the weekend.”

Right-back Elliott Hewitt played 45 minutes for the U21s last Friday but is unlikely to be included in the first team squad quite yet.
