Taylor Could Face Surgery - Ipswich Town News

New signing Paul Taylor could require surgery after suffering a cracked bone in his foot during Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat to Wolves. Fellow frontman Michael Chopra is a doubt ahead of Saturday’s home game against Charlton.

Boss Paul Jewell said: "Paul Taylor’s cracked a bone in his foot and is on crutches. He’s got to go back and see a specialist in two weeks’ time to determine whether he’ll need surgery.

"It’s a big blow because he’s looked a bit of a shining light for us in the two and a half games he’s played. But when your luck’s going against you, that’s what happens and you can’t afford to let it get you down.

"We’ll have 11 players that will start the game tomorrow and hopefully they’ll be good enough to get a result. Michael Chopra’s doubtful with a thigh strain.”

Another summer addition, 18-year-old right-back Elliott Hewitt, has suffered a minor setback as he continues his comeback after the hip impingement operations he underwent prior to joining the Blues: "Elliott Hewitt has picked up a thigh strain during his rehab. He is going to pick up little niggles.

"Josh Carson trained this morning and is in contention after hurting his knee in training last Friday. Arran Lee-Barrett fell on his knee in training but he’s fine now.”
