Higginbotham Would Welcome Longer Stay - Ipswich Town News

New loanee Danny Higginbotham says if all goes well he’d welcome staying at Town beyond his initial one-month spell. The 33-year-old joined the Blues on Friday and made his debut as a late sub in Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Charlton.

Higginbotham told the club site: "We have to see how things go but if the opportunity was there to extend the loan then I’d definitely look at it.

"The most important thing for me is to play games and Ipswich have given me the chance to do that.

"Being left out of the 25-man squad by Stoke made the decision to go out on loan easier because I’m not really a player who wants to sit around and pick up my wages.”

Football League clubs can take players on loan for a maximum of 93 days outside the transfer window.

He says he talked to a couple of former Town men before deciding to come to Portman Road: "I spoke to Jon Walters and Danny Collins, who have obviously both played here, and they spoke highly of the club and I’m delighted to be here.”

Higginbotham's Stoke contract is up at the end of this season.
