Jewell: JET Must Do Better - Ipswich Town News

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas will have to show more than he did during last week’s defeat to Charlton if he’s going to get back into the Town team, according to manager Paul Jewell. The 21-year-old was hauled off at half-time having failed to make any impression on the game.

Jewell said: "He won’t get back into action if he plays as he did on Saturday, and he knows that. I’ve had a long chat with him this week and he played for the U21s on Monday.

"It’s just turning that undoubted ability that he has into consistency. He is the type of player whose languid style makes it look as if he’s not caring. That’s just his style and I’ve spoken to him about that.

"When he’s not very good, he’s got to be better than he has been. I always think that really good players, when they don’t have their best days, which is quite often, they still contribute something to the team.

"And at the moment JET, when it’s not happening for him, he’s not giving us anything else, and he’s aware of that.”
